Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state has declared that Nigerian women and more responsible than Nigerian men.

The governor made the comment earlier today, February 13 at the 2017 Murtala Muhammed Memorial Lecture held in Abuja.
The governor, who was the keynote speaker at the lecture, spoke on the topic: ‘’Managing the Boko Haram crisis in Borno state; Experiences and lessons for a multi-party, multi-ethnic and multi-religious Nigeria.’’

He said: ‘’I am a feminist. I believe in gender empowerment because our women and more responsible than our men.
‘’We must empower our women to take care of our kids, because it is the women that will struggle to feed them.
‘’In the Internal Displaced Persons camp, instances about where the men will be given coupon, and they will gamble with them.
The governor warned that there is a direct correlation between violence and poverty, urging his fellow leader across the country that, ‘’unless we wear our thinking capps as leaders, the future is very bleak.’’
He informed his audience that virtually all the schools in Borno state are been rebuilt by his administration.
‘’We are investing N20 billion in building brand new mega schools designed to provide quality education for 20,000 children orphaned by Boko Haram,’’ he declared.
He added: ‘’If we take care of these orphans, believe me, 15 years down the line, these orphans will take care of us.’’

Meanwhile, a recent media report has detailed how brides of captured Boko Haram terrorists are struggling to adjust to their normal lives before they were abducted by the insurgents.
