Babcock University Nigeria is a university operated and owned by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. This university is located in Ibadan and Lagos. It has a large number of enrolment which is estimated around 6000-7000 students.
The Babcock University high school is also part of the Seventh-day Adventist educational system. It`s the world`s second large Christian educational system. The Vice Chancellor of the University is Professor Stephen Ademola Tayo. The Motto of the University is “Knowledge, Truth, Service.”
History of Babcock University Nigeria
The University was named after an American Missioner – David C. Babcock, who provided the campaign of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nigeria in 1914. It was initially created as Babcock University teaching hospital, but it provided the diversity into the education later. The buildings of the University situated in Erunmu in Oyo State. The Babcock University had several names throughout the history, like the Adventist College of West Africa in 1959, the Adventist Seminary of West Africa in 1975 and its official inauguration as the Babcock University in 1999.

The University initially had four schools, but it also added the Babcock University, postgraduate school in 2010 and medical school in 2012. One of the latest addition to the University is the Music and Education Foundations departments. According to the official website, the Babcock University hosts nine schools and one college.
