Kogi residents and civil servants grumble as Governor Bello reportedly causes obstruction with new mansion
The 42-year-old governor of Kogi, Yahaya Bello, is reportedly completing a state-of-the-art mansion that has beaten the physical plan of an area in the state.
The mansion is located on Mahmoud Atta street at the Government Reserved Area of Okene and is reportedly blocking a major road in the area.

The Cable reports that the governor allegedly blocked the road with the gate of the mansion. In this case, the report accused the governor of converting an end of the street to the entrance of the mansion.
The report said this development is coming at a time the state government has not been able to meet the salaries and other emoluments of civil servants.
A resident of the area was quoted as saying: “He has converted the main street entrance to his private entrance and is creating another entrance for lesser mortals like us.
“A governor converting a public road to a private and exclusive road for himself; this is a big shame.”
In his reaction, Kingsley Fanwo, spokesperson of the governor, said: “Some of these issues are not the way we see them.

“The point is that if he is building a house and the structure is affecting the road network and he is giving the people a better road, they should be grateful.

“It’s not as if he is obstructing the road and he is not doing anything about it. It’s not that he is flexing his power as governor.
“He has been considerate enough to give them a better road.”
