The United Nations office in Nigeria has named one of its hall after the late former minister of health Babatunde Osotimehin.
The international agency made the announcement during a memorial service in honour of Osotimehin on Friday, July 14.
Speaking at the service, the minister of foreign affairs Geoffrey Onyeama said Osotimehin was God’s blessing to Nigerian and the world at large.
The minister said: “Any nation on earth would have been so proud to have Babatunde Osotimehin.”

Osotimehin died in Harrison, New York on June 4, at age of 68.
Until his death, Osotimehin was the executive director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

He was the provost of the College of Medicine at the University of Ibadan from 1990 to 1994 before serving the director general of the Nigerian National Agency for the Control of Aids from March 2007 to December 2008.
