Nigerian Newspapers on Tuesday, July 11, have focused on the statement credited to Mrs Aisha Buhari hinting that “the hyenas” and “the jackals” would soon be ejected from the kingdom amongst other top stories.
Vanguard reports that Igbo apex socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has disagreed with Igbo youths clamouring for Biafra in retrospect, saying their style was out of tune with the body language of Igbo elders who have seen war and its devastation and would not want anything that would bring another calamity.
Ohanaeze also frowned at the call for referendum, saying although “referendum is not a bad idea, but it’s not a tea party either; it is an option that will be more potent, if restructuring clamour fails.”

The Punch reports that wife of the president, Aisha, on Monday, gave an indication that God had answered Nigerians’ prayers for the quick recovery of her ailing husband, Muhammadu Buhari.
She also hinted that “the hyenas” and “the jackals” would soon be ejected from the kingdom.
Mrs. Buhari, who is currently in the British capital with her husband, gave the indication on her Facebook page while responding to an earlier post made by the senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani.
Sani had earlier posted a message in which he was making a veiled reference to the alleged power play in the government circle in Buhari’s absence.

The Guardian reports the crisis rocking Etisalat Nigeria deepened yesterday with a directive from the Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (ETC), the largest shareholder in the embattled firm, that the Nigerian arm should stop using the brand name within the next three weeks.
The implication is that the new management must decide within the next 21 days on the options before it, which are either an outright sale of the company or merger with an existing operator in the country.
Etisalat, which controls 13 per cent market share in Nigeria, has had a running battle with a consortium of 13 banks since March, after it notified them of its inability to service its $1.2 billion debt in February due to the foreign exchange challenges in the country.
The firm had through its Vice-President, Regulatory & Corporate Affairs, Ibrahim Dikko, three weeks ago, claimed that it had repaid 42 per cent of the loan.

The Nation reports that the executive and the Senate returned to the war path last week – no thanks to the retention of Ibrahim Magu as the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
A request by the upper chamber to sack Magu was dead on arrival. The presidency renewed its endorsement of Magu as the right man for the anti-graft war.
The lawmakers have also vowed to stick to their guns – not to confirm any appointment forwarded to them by the Executive – until their resolutions are carried out.
The no love lost relationship between the executive and the legislature is fast becoming a recurring decimal and detrimental to national progress.
