– The constituents claim the lawmaker is only enriching her purse at the House of Reps
– They seek the launch of an investigation into the affairs of the parliamentarian
Constituents of the Abua/Odual/Ahoada East Federal Constituency in Rivers state have raised dust over the activities of their representative in the Federal House of Reps, Mrs Betty Apiafi.
According to the constituents, Mrs Apiafi who has been in the House for about 10years, have continued to only carry out white-elephant projects in the constituency.
The members of the constituency alleged that Mrs Apiafi has been using monies allocated for the people to enrich herself and the family.
Speaking on the issue, Blessed Oyagiri , the Rivers state coordinator of Niger Delta Youth Council of Nigeria, told news men in Rivers state that the constituency is languishing because their elected representative has abandoned those she should be looking out for.
Oyagiri, an APC Chieftain in Ahoada East told newsmen in the state that every year members of the House of Reps gets allocations for projects in their constituency, but the Abua/Odual/Ahoada East people get to see nothing year-in-year-out.

The youth leader challenged Mrs Apiafi to state categorically how she has spent funds allocated to the constituency in the last 10years or so.
In a similar vein, Mr Lucky Ottos ,APC Chairman–ward 4 in Abua/Odual Local Government called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to look into the affairs of the lawmaker representing the constituency.

Ottos stressed that transparency is the keyword in today’s political sphere; hence Mrs Apiafi must give account of her service rendered to the people.
He further stressed that failure for the parliamentarian to declare her assets which is littered all over Port Harcourt and give proper account of herself, will lead to the recalling of the lawmaker.
Also speaking to our correspondent on the issue, Mr Lee Jacob,APC LGA youth leader in Abua/Odual stressed that there are no constituency office in Apiafi’s constituency. He also re-echoed that there are no single project on ground to show for the over ten years she has been sitting on the peoples common wealth,adding that representation should be service delivery to the people and not self enrichment.
Mr Jacob stressed that Mrs Apiafi abandoned those who voted her into office, adding that her constituents demand that she be investigated by the EFCC.
He said the people demand accountability and will initiate a recall process which section 69 of the 1999 constitution empowers us.
Mr.Jacob noted that what is happening to Hon.Betty Apiafi is a self-inflicted problem, which was borne out of lack of proper representation,greed,unaccountability,self enrichment, diversion of constituency projects funds and morally corrupt to remain in public office.
He however called on security agencies to investigate her unholy romance with criminal elements within her constituency which has led to lost of many lives in Abua/Odual/Ahoada East Local Government Areas.
He however vowed that justice must prevail over leaders who abandoned the electorates and fly first class,drive exotic cars and live in porch houses with public funds,adding that Hon.Apiafi will be the second lawmaker whose constituents want recalled after Dino Melaye.
