How Nigerian senator allegedly forged certificate (Photos)

– Nigerian senator, Buruji Kashamu, has been caught in another major scandal

– Kashamu allegedly failed English in his O’level result

– Despite English being a prerequisite for UNILAG admission, the Senator claimed to have graduated from the varsity

Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Buruji Kashamu, has been linked to a certificate forgery allegation by online media, Sahara Reporters.

In the affidavit in support of personal details, deposed before the Commissioner of Oaths at the Ogun State High Court Registry, Ijebu-Igbo on December 15 2014 and received by INEC three days later, Kashamu claimed to possess General Certificate of Education (GCE), obtained in 2006; and an Executive Diploma in English for Professionals (EDEP), obtained from the University of Lagos Department of English in 2014.

Sahara Reporters claimed that Kashamu, in the completed INEC CF 001 forms and sworn affidavit, claimed to have earned seven credits including English Language by presenting a tactically blurred certificate.

This is reportedly in collusion with INEC officials.

His examination number, as shown by the result he reportedly claimed to have obtained from the West African Examination Council (WAEC), was 5251320057.

Kashamu reportedly presented a letter which he claimed was signed by Mr. Adeyemi Daramola, Coordinator of the University of Lagos EDEP program.

The letter, dated August 11, 2014, states that Kashamu participated in the program in the 2012/2013 academic session and completed his “final project” in May 2014.

It lists his Matriculation Number as 12213002.

The letter reads: “He passed by procuring a Merit in the examination. He will be presented with his certificate at a graduation ceremony later this year. Meanwhile, he should be accorded all the privileges of the diploma.”

However, admission requirements into the University program according to the Human Resources Development Centre of the University of Lagos, include the possession of a credit pass in the English Language, a subject which Kashamu failed.

How the Senator, who is currently wanted in the United states, for being a suspect in a big drug trafficking case, got admission into the prestigious university of Lagos without a credit in English Language remains a mystery.

The coordinator of the UNILAG EDEP program, Mr Daramola is yet to make any statement on this issue.

Meanwhile, Kashamu has been ordered to appear before the police by a Federal High Court in Abuja over an allegation of attempted murder of a member of the House of Representatives representing Ikene/Shagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, Mr Oladipupo Adebutu.

Justice Nnamdi Dimgba on Thursday July 6 insisted that the senator must honour police invitation extended to him over Adebutu’s petition.
