War college graduates first participants in Benue (photos)

The Nigerian Air Force Air War College (NAFAWC) on Friday, May 12, graduated the first set of participants in Makurdi, Benue state.

NAFAWC which was established on September 5, 2016 was aimed at re-positioning the Nigerian Air Force into a highly professional and discipline force through capacity building initiatives.

The minister of defence Mansur Dan-Ali who was represented by the chief of defence staff Gabriel Olonisakin said the graduating participants have been adequately prepared for national service.

The Nigerian Air Force Air War College (NAFAWC) on Friday, May 12, graduated the first set of participants in Makurdi, Benue state.

Olonisakin said the knowledge gathered by the participants would be required for joint military operation within the country and abroad.

AFAWC which was established on September 5, 2016 was aimed at re-positioning the Nigerian Air Force into a highly professional and discipline force through capacity building initiatives.

“As the air arm of Armed Forces, the NAF has been playing a crucial role in the counterinsurgency operations in the Northeast where our officers, airmen and airwomen have performed gallantly,” Olonisakin said.

Also speaking, the chief air staff Sadique Abubakar, an air marshal, said: “I am convinced that the product of this College is comparable to the product of any air war college around the world.”

In his welcome address, the commandant of the NAFAWC James Baba who is an air vice marshal s aid the grandaunts are ready to contribute their quota to the effective employment of air power in Nigeria and beyond.

He said the pioneer course was inaugurated on November 18, 2016 with 29 senior military officers drawn from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy and the NAF.

The pioneer course was inaugurated on November 18, 2016 with 29 senior military officers drawn from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy and the NAF.

He added that the participants were exposed to air power concepts, principles and operations as well as air elements, assets and related issues during the six-month duration of the programme.
