The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has blasted Governor Ifeanyi Okowa over the impeachment of the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly Monday Igbuya.
Reports have it that Igbuya was impeached in the early hours of Thursday, May 11. He was impeached during a session of the state House of Assembly session.
According to a statement issued by the acting deputy national chairman of the party Dr Cairo Ojougboh on Thursday, May 11 in Abuja, the governor caused the impeachment of the speaker because Igbuya accompanied former Delta state governor, James Ibori to visit Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa state.

In the statement signed on his behalf by his personal assistant B Alli, Ojuogboh warned Okowa that his eight-year tenure would not last forever.
The statement read: “The attention of Hon Cairo Ojougboh, the Deputy National Chairman of the PDP have been drawn to the criminal removal of Hon Monday Igbuya as Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Asaba.

“His problem with Gov Okowa started immediately after that visit but we must state that Hon Monday Igbuya has served creditably well and we are proud of his services to the people of Delta State.

“Gov Okowa should be reminded that power belongs to God and that it is transient.
“He should also be reminded that eight years is not forever and therefore, be mindful of how he treats people while in power.”
ZENITHBLOG.com recalls that the factions of Senators Ali-Modu Sheriff and Ahmed Makarfi flexed muscles in Asaba, the Delta state capital on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 over who held sway in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The faction loyal to Sheriff was chased out from the proposed venue of their stakeholders’ meeting in Asaba, thereby disrupting Sheriff’s one-day working visit to the state.
