Fatai Owoseni, the commissioner of police in Lagos state, is leading a team as the manhunt for the kidnappers of six students of Igbonla Model School, near Epe commences.
The team is to ensure that the victims who were kidnapped from their school as early as 5:00 am on Thursday, May 25, 2017 are rescued alive.
A statement obtained by ZENITHBLOG.com said that Owoseni, in company of top police officers in the state, led a search and rescue team to the school and adjoining waterways as well as forest in search of the gunmen.

ZENITHBLOG.com learnt that source at the scene of the incident disclosed that the kidnappers used the Imeru/Iji waterway to access the swampy forest bordering the school.
They bore a hole on a part of the school fence to gain entrance into the compound while the children were still asleep.

Owoseni, who was at the school very early in the morning, appealed for calmness from parents and guardian of the kidnapped school children to enable security agencies focus on rescue operations.
He added that security agencies were intensifying efforts towards ensuring the safety and security of the people of Lagos.
He stressed that useful information from members of the public
Among the team were the commander, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), ACP Olatunji Disu, officers from SARS and state Anti-Kidnapping Squad.

This is the second time the school would be attacked in seven months.
ZENITHBLOG.com had reported that on October, 2017, some students and teachers of the college, were kidnapped.

Following the ugly development, the House of Representatives had called on the security agencies in the country to intensify rescue efforts for high school students and teachers kidnapped.
The House passed the resolution after hearing from Mr Raji how some suspected kidnappers attacked the school just as students were observing early morning prayers in the assembly.
