Panic as police clash with daredevil kidnappers in Lagos, white man rescued

– The white man was said to have been tied up by the abductors inside the building close to the Igando police station

– The successful operation carried out by a team of police officers, was said to have been at the instance of Fatai Owoseni

An initial panic among residents of Igando in Lagos state on Friday, May 12 later ended in jubilation as men of the Nigeria police rescued a white man.

After the operation that lasted almost two hours at the kidnapper’s den, officers of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad and Special Anti-Robbery Squad found the white man tied up.

ZENITHBLOG.com learnt that the operation was carried out by the team led by a chief superintendent of police, Akinade Adejobi, and the second-in-command of the SARS, Amadu Adamu.

It was learnt that the police stormed the building and surrounded it, but the kidnappers had escaped by the time the operatives entered the building

within the metropolis.

Four AK47 rifles, two English pistols, 60 magazines and 5000 ammunition were part of the weapons discovered after the operation.

There are beliefs that the kidnappers got wind of the invasion of the police team and in their bid for escape, they left their weapons.

It was learnt that the operation was at the instance of the commissioner of police in the state, Fatai Owoseni, who had received information about the abduction.

According to reports, part of the success recorded by the police was because its officers had tracked the kidnappers 24 hours after the operation was carried out.
