Vanguard reports that Kano State House of Assembly, yesterday, called off the probe of the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi 11, over Kano Emirate finances, following the intervention of some prominent Nigerians.
They include Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo; two former military Heads of State, General Ibrahim Babangida (retd); General Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd), the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar; Aliko Dangote, and Aminu Dantata.
The state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, in a letter to the House and read by the Speaker, Alhassan Rurum, asked the lawmakers to halt the probe of the emir.

The Guardian reports that the Supreme Court yesterday ruled against the factional leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ali-Modu Sheriff in his application, challenging the competence of the appeal filed by his challenger, Ahmed Makarfi.
Sheriff had prayed the apex court to refuse hearing the application filed by Makarfi, challenging the February 17 judgment of the Appeal Court in Port Harcourt,
For the PDP to be able to serve as a strong opposition to keep the government in power on its toes, the crisis rocking th e party should be resolved. This will facilitate reconciliation that will unite the party to perform its role in the nation’s democracy.

Commissioner for Waterfront and Infrastructure Development Adebowale Akinsanya, addressing reporters yesterday in Alausa, Lagos, said the government was considering proposals from foreign investors in the United States of America and Britain to accelerate the commencement of the project.
Akinsanya, an engineer, said the government dumped the former contractors, including Africa Financial Corporation (AFC) and other investors, following delay in the beginning of the multi-billion naira project.
