– The U.S. capital is boasting yet another museum

– Its newest addition will be The Museum of the Bible

– This privately funded institution will host objects such as the Dead Sea scrolls

U.S. capital Washington D.C. already has a wide variety of museums, for all kinds of tastes. And now, the more religious will have a new addition catered to their own interests: The Museum of the Bible.

This new cultural center will stand three blocks south of the Capitol, and it is privately funded. The museum will open in November.

The center’s curators are looking to attract a vast range of visitors, who will find a mix of both historical and religious objects, as well as interactive exhibits.

“The goal is to show and to educate people about the many ways that the Bible has impacted America, not just our history but in terms of civil rights and social justice to fashion,” vice president of marketing for the museum Steve Bickley said, according to Fox News.

The $500 million, eight-story building will boast 430,000 square feet of space. It will offer an “immersive experience to people from all faiths, or no faith, and those who have never even picked up a Bible.”

The architectural firm Smith Group is behind the design, and Clark Construction the company in charge of building it.

Visitors will find some interesting items, such as the Dead Sea Scrolls, and bibles which belonged to stars like Babe Ruth and Elvis Presley.

One of the museum’s main donors and its founder is Steve Green, president of Hobby Lobby. Both him and his father, David, own the Green Collection, the world’s largest private collection of biblical texts and objects.
