The Borno state governor Kashim Shettima on Thursday, May 18, accused the Cameroonian government of disloyalty to agreement on Boko Haram refugees.
Kashim Shettima while condemning activities by the Cameroonian authority against Nigerians who have taken refugee in Cameroon said its government failed to keep agreement signed with Nigeria and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

The governor berated the Cameroonian government for forcefully eject some Nigerian victims of Boko Haram from Cameroon.
“The Cameroonian authority has not been honourable in keeping the agreement signed with Nigeria and UNHCR on our people in their country,” Shettima said.

While receiving the new director general of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Yunusa Mustapha , Shettima said over 10,500 out 79,000 victims are taken refugee in Cameroon.
The governor said 3,500 Nigerians arrived Pulka while 7,000 others are currently in Banki.
He added that the Borno state deputy governor will lead some officials of the state to Bama to renovate a school and a public building which he said will serve as camp for the refugees.
He also said that the state transport cooportaion has been directed to release vehicles for the transportation of these refugees to Bama.
“We are posed to address the problem,” he said.

“If there is any legacy that I want to leave behind after our tenure, it is to ensure the construction of Ngala-Kala/Balge road and Chibok-Shani,” he added.
In his remarks, Yunusa said the long years of insurgency in the region has dealt mostly with the people of Borno state.
He however assured that NEMA will provide all the support needed to develop the state.
