Governor Ayade orders commissioners, aides to wear only made in Calabar clothes

– Governor Ben Ayade has ordered all the commissioners and aides in the state to wear only clothes made in Calabar

– The governor said by June he will join his over 2,000 aides to patronize Calabar based designers

– He said he expects to showcase his sincere commitment to the state and over 3,000 Cross River state youth working in the Calabar Garment factory

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River state has ordered all the commissioners aide in the state to wear only clothes made from the Calabar Garment Factory.

Ayade said by June he will also join his over 2,000 aides to patronize Calabar based designers.

He said the purpose of the directive is to showcase his sincere commitment to the state and over 3,000 Cross River state youth working in the factory.

The governor said: “By the close of next month, anything I put on my body will be made from Cross River Garment Factory. That is my sincere commitment to the state and for the 3,000 young people working in the factory.”

Speaking in his office in Calabar during a presentation of some samples of the cloth made by the designers, Ayade says the new factor established by his administration will remain the major fashion industry in Nigeria.

ZENITHBLOG.com recalls that the governor had earlier shocked Nigerians and residents of the state by appointing 1,106 advisers at the heat of the economic recession in the country.

The governor then said the appointments were aimed at alleviating poverty in state.

He was also the first governor to pay backlog of salary arrears owed state government workers upon his assuming office.
