Go to court! You are always seeking attention, Senate blasts Falana over 2017 Budget

– The Nigerian Senate has dismissed some concerns recently raised by human rights laywer, Chief Femi Falana (SAN)

– Falana had advised Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo not to sign the 2017 budget sent to him by the National Assembly

– Falana said the National Assembly has no right to increase its budget and urged the acting president to peruse it properly

The Nigerian Senate has dismissed some concerns recently raised by human rights laywer, Chief Femi Falana (SAN).

Falana had advised Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo not to sign the 2017 budget sent to him by the National Assembly.

Falana said the National Assembly has no right to increase its budget and urged the acting president to peruse it properly.

Falana says the Senate has no right to increase its own budget

Senate spokesman, Senator Sabi Abdullahi dismissed the issues raised, adding that Falana was seeking relevance.

He urged the Senior Advocate of Nigeria to take the Senate to court if he felt strongly about his views.

“He (Falana) is entitled to his opinion. We have been hearing so much from him these days. It’s like he wants to comment on everything. I liken him to those they call Charlie, Charlie lawyer. He is looking for attention. Let him take us to court if he so wishes.

“In any case, 2019 is by the corner, let him contest and come to the National Assembly so as to show us the legal things. Let him come and consolidate and do the legal things, he

can come to point out the illegal things to us,” Abdullahi said.

Budget: Senate urges Falana to go to court, accuse him of seeking relevance

The Senate has urged Falana to head to court if he is not satisfied with the its decision

Meanwhile, a recent media report indicates that some top politicians are under watch by security agencies following the recent alarm raised by the chief of army staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai.

Buratai had warned officers against dabbling into politics in a recent statement, adding that they should save Nigeria’s nascent democracy.

The alarm is believed to have followed an intelligence report that some politicians, who were uncomfortable with the health of President Muhammadu Buhari, were infiltrating the military.
