Fresh TENSION as dare-devil herdsmen hit Benue again, kill 8 in gruesome circumstances

– The security secretary of the council, Tor JIji Aluur, confirmed that the suspected Fulani herdsmen killed six in Mbakuur

– The coordinator of Myetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) in the state, Garus Gololo, confirmed the attack

At least, eight people have been killed in different communities in Benue state following an attack by gunmen.

Daily Trust reports that while six people were killed in Mbakuur council ward of Logo local government area, two others were killed in Mbaya council ward in Buruku local government area.

The report said this is the second attack on Logo people in less than five days adding that 10 dead bodies had already been recovered from the area following a recent attack on the residents.

The security secretary of the council, Tor JIji Aluur, reportedly confirmed the fresh attack on the Mbakuur ward saying that it was carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen at about 3:00 am on Thursday, May 11.

He also confirmed that six dead bodies had been recovered while the paramount ruler of Ichongo in

Logo council, Chief Peter Iorhuna, also corroborated the report.

Reacting, the coordinator of Myetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) in the state, Garus Gololo, confirmed there was tension in the areas.

He said he was planning to meet and appeal with members of his association over the matter while pleading with the villagers to be calm.

The incident had not been confirmed by the police at the time of filing this report since the commissioner, Bashir Makama and the command’s spokesperson, Moses Joel Yamu, were out on assignment to Abuja.

ZENITHBLOG.com reports that five persons were killed at Buruku villages in March which made Governor Samuel Ortom order herdsmen to quit the community.
