EFCC on fire: SEE 8 current cases, people involved, amount in billions and judges (photos)

On Wednesday, May 17, 2017, several Nigerians are in courts across the country on corruption charges, for amounts going into billions of Naira.

ZENITHBLOG.com gathered that that at May 17, there are at least 8 corruption cases in court according to a list and infographic published by TransparencITng.

Below is a list of the cases in court, the amounts involved and the judges:

1. Alex Badeh

Alex Badeh

Alex Badeh, the ex-defence chief is on trial for allegedly laundering N3.9bn. His case is before Justice Okon Abang at Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja.

2. Olaniran Ogundipe

Olaniran Ogundipe who is an oil marketer and one other unnamed person are in court for N1.3bn oil subsidy scam.

Their case is to be heard by Justice H.R. Shagari at Federal High Court, Lagos.

3. Colonel Sambo Dasuki

Sambo Dasuki

Former National Security Adviser (NSA), Rtd Colonel Sambo Dasuki along with three others are being arraigned by the EFCC for allegedly laundering N13.5bn.

Justice H. Baba-Yusuf at the FCT High Court, Maitama, Abuja is in charge of the case.

4. Ricky Tarfa

Ricky Tarfa, SAN, is on trial for alleged bribery and scuttling of justice at the State High Court, Igbosere, Lagos. Justice Adedayo Akintoye is the judge in charge of the case.

5. Justice Sylvester Ngwuta

Justice Sylvester Ngwuta a Supreme court judge is on trial at the Federal High Court, Abuja for alleged diversion of pubic funds under Justice J. Tsoho.

6. Murtala Nyako

Murtala Nyako

The ex-governor of Adamawa state, Murtala Nyako alongside 8 others are currently on trial at Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja for allegedly laundering N29bn. The case which is being heard by Justice Okon Abang is of special interest to the EFCC.

7. Bashir Ishaq Bashir

A businessman Bashir Ishaq Bashir alongside three others have been charged to court by the EFCC for an alleged $1m fraud case. Justice S. Aladetoyinbo is in charge of the case at the Abuja High Court, Maitama.

8. Patrick Sanchi Nwokike

Patrick Nwokike

Wonder Bank MD, Patrick Nwokike alongside three others have been charged to court by the EFCC for alleged N4bn fraud.

Justice D, Oghoghrie at the Federal High Court, Enugu is in charge of the case.

Meanwhile, the Department of the State Service (DSS) on Wednesday, May 17, failed again to bring retired Col. Sambo Dasuki to stand trial at an Abuja High Court in Maitama.
