Authorities of the Nigerian Agip Oil Company Ltd (NAOC) on Friday met with aggrieved indigenes of the Okoroma community in Nembe local government area of Bayelsa state on the planned protest to shut down the Obama Flow Station operated by the company over unpaid security and marine contract debt.
The meeting, which was held at the Agip office in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, was attended by some top management staff of the company led by the Division Manager, Legal Department, Barr. Okafor and the aggrieved indigenes of the Okoroma community numbering over 120, were led by Hon. Nyenye Kuro.
The meeting, according to security sources, was meant to avert the planned protest by the angry youths and members of the Okoroma Patriotic Movement against Agip Oil Company over the alleged N3.6billion debt owed for security and marine services rendered to the company.

ZENITHBLOG.com gathered that the meeting, which deliberated on five points bothering on threat to life, anti-oil theft, marine vessel supply, internal security arrears and retention payment on jobs, it was resolved that three basic issues on outstanding payments owed will be handled within 72 hours.
The 72 hours resolution however ended on Tuesday last week without indication of the oil company fulfilling its side of the deal.

According to the sources: “These are payments overdue for the jobs done by those concerned in the community that was contracted to Hon. Nyenye Kuro.
“It was agreed that the payments will be handled within 72 hours. They pleaded that the decision on the payments due for work done was to show commitment on the part of Agip.”
Meanwhile, a group under the aegis of Niger Delta Amalgamated Creek Dwellers has warned the Nigerian Agip Oil Company against delay in resolving all matters involved in the debt owed youths in the area.
The group said: “We have observed the peaceful efforts of the aggrieved youths to tow the path of peace with petitions to the National Assembly and other security agencies.
“We are warning that our boys are ready to shock Agip and the nation with total shut down of Agip facility if they fail.”

It would be recalled that the crisis triggered by the refusal of Agip to pay for the security jobs done had led to a petition filed by the aggrieved Okoroma indigenes before the existing security agencies and the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petition.
According to the angry youths, in the petition dated 16th January, 2017 and sent to the Commander of the Joint Military Task Force (JTF) also known as the Operation Delta Safe, though the series of attempts by the coordinator of the security and marine services job for Agip, Hon.Nyenye Kuro to recover the alleged debt was met with threat to life, illegal arrest, intimidation and oppression, the youths and women who are the beneficiaries of the job have taken it upon themselves to shut down the activities of the flow station until the money is paid.
The Obama Oil and Gas Flow Station produce over 22,000 barrels of crude oil per day and 12million of standard cubic of gas per day.
