Buhari is fit and would be waiting for whoever is eyeing his position come 2019 – Aide

– Sumaila said Buhari would be waiting for anybody that is eyeing the number one position

The special assistant to the president on National Assembly matters, Alhaji Abdulrahman Sulaiman Kawu Sumaila, has said President Muhammadu Buhari is fit to contest for presidency in 2019.

Speaking to newsmen in Kano on Monday, May 8, he said only competent medical experts could ascertain whether the president was fit or not to run for the number position come 2019, Daily Trust reports.

“I am confident that President Buhari will recover and continue to steer the affairs of this country to complete his first tenure and re-contest for the second one in 2019,” he said.

Buhari left for London on Sunday after he met with the vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Senate president, Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara

According to him, the issue of Buhari’s health is not a new thing as many things had already been about his health condition since the very first time he contested for president in 2003.

Sumaila said Buhari is an aged person and it is normal for him to fall sick. He added tha work pressure could contribute to his falling sick.

He noted that whether the former governor of Kano state, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, would contest for the seat or not, the president would be waiting for whoever is eyeing his position.

“Kwankwaso has contested alongside Buhari in the 2015 presidential election and he had seen the consequences of his action. So, let him try it again,” Sumaila added.

Earlier, ZENITHBLOG.com reported that Buhari departed for London for a new round of treatement on Sunday, May 7, sparking another round of debate on his capability to manage the demands of his office.

Recall that he returned to Nigeria on March 10, after seven weeks’ treatment in the UK. Since his return, he has skipped several cabinet meetings and rarely left Aso Rock. This will be his fourth stay for medical treatment in the UK since he was elected in 2015.

As Nigerians continue to wonder what is really wrong with the president, a report by Financial Times has revealed that President Buhari is under pressure to reveal the nature of his health.

Some federal lawmakers in the National Assembly have begun moves to invoke the constitution to force Buhari to reveal his health status.
