Armed men abduct medical doctor and driver, demand N70 Million

– Armed men have reportedly kidnapped a medical doctor and a driver while driving towards Federal Capital Territory for an official engagement

– The secretary of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Roland Arohunmolase has confirmed the abduction

– Arohunmolase says the kidnappers used Ikuomola’s driver’s phone to contact another doctor in order to inform him of his abduction

Niran Ikuomola, a medical doctor and permanent secretary of the Ondo state hospital management board, and his driver have been reportedly abducted by gunmen.

The two men were abducted on Sunday, May 14, by the unknown gunmen along the Lokoja-Abuja expressway.

Sahara Reporters reports that the victims were kidnapped while driving towards the Federal Capital Territory for an official engagement.

ZENITHBLOG.com gathered that Roland Arohunmolase, the secretary of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), confirmed the abduction.

Arohunmolase said the kidnappers used Ikuomola’s driver’s phone to contact another doctor in order to inform him of his kidnapping.

“They used his driver’s phone to contact another doctor to inform us of the kidnap

case. As I speak with you, we are making frantic efforts to ensure the safe release of the permanent secretary and we have reported the matter to the police commissioner.

“It’s not clear but I heard them saying the family should pay the sum of N70 million ransom before he would be released with his driver,” Arohunmolase said.

According to him, members of the NMA in Ondo state have been directed to pray for the safe release of the permanent secretary.

Meanwhile ZENITHBLOG.com recently reported that three suspected kidnappers were killed during a fight between the troops from Operation Delta Safe, the Nigeria military task force in the Niger Delta, and suspected sea pirates and kidnappers.

The notorious gang, which had been terrorizing the waterways of Bayelsa and Rivers states, was taken down on their way to an operation on Azikiwe road in Port-Harcourt.
