3 men arrested for kidnapping 16-year-old girl in Abuja (Photo)

– 3 men who allegedly abducted a 16-year-old girl under the pretense of scouting her for a modelling job

– The gang leader, Edache Echoga confessed to the crime and admitted receiving N200,000

– The suspects are believed to be first time offenders

Three young men between the age of 21 and 26 have been arrested by the Abuja police command for abducting a 16-year-old girl in Gwarimpa, Abuja.

The young girl who was kidnapped on April 18, 2017, was lured with the promises of being scouted for a modelling job interview.

ZENITHBLOG.com learnt that their victim was however released two days later after her family had paid a ransom of N400,000 to the kidnappers.

The gang leader of the kidnappers, 24 year-old Edache Echoga, and native of Apa in Benue state was eventually arrested at Kubwa area of Abuja.

The suspects are believed to be first time offenders.

Echoga confessed to the crime and admitted receiving N200,000 as his share of the paid ransom.

His confession resulted to the arrest of the 2 other gang members, Festus Ajiboye, age 26, an indigene of Ondo state and Ahmed Hassan from Kano state, age 21.

Ajiboye and Hassan were both arrested in Lagos state on April 23, 2017 after they travelled to spend the share

of their ransom.

The victim’s phone, which was used in negotiating her ransom, and her jewelry were recovered from the kidnappers.

The suspects however pleaded that this is their first time of committing such crime.

Meanwhile, Delta police command has confirmed the kidnap of a lecturer attached to the Delta State University, Oleh campus, one Mr. Kingsley Uwubiti.

Andrew Aniamaka, the state police public relations officer, told ZENITHBLOG.com that the case was initially treated as armed robbery but the unfolding event showed that it is a kidnap case, hence the state anti-kidnap squad of the police command had swung into action to apprehend the suspects.

Aniamaka further told ZENITHBLOG.com that the anti-kidnap unit of the police had made some arrests but “we’ve not been able to see the connection between the suspects arrested and the particular one that did the kidnapping.
