The House of Representatives has said lawmakers cannot be blamed for the current economic crisis.
The House of Representatives has absolved federal lawmakers of blame for the current economic recession facing the country.

The chairman of the House tactical committee on economic recession, Dr. Bode Ayorinde, made the statement in Abuja on Tuesday, February 14, in response to question on whether the legislature was accepting blame that lawmakers also contributed to the downfall of the economy.
Ayorinde speaking soon after the committee was inaugurated by the speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, said no action of the house could have contributed to the dwindling economy, Punch reports.
He said: “No, we are not apologising for anything.
“There is nothing the House has done to contribute to the downfall of the economy.

The lawmaker identified the free fall of the naira against other world currencies and escalating unemployment as two of the most urgent problems that must be arrested.

He disclosed that the committee had a three-month mandate to meet all relevant agencies of government to identify areas of concern, adding that steps must be taken immediately to address them.
“As we meet with any agency, the steps to be taken will be made know and the agency will begin to act”, Ayorinde said.
Meanwhile, the federal government has expressed optimism that the Nigerian economy will bounce back to reckoning soon.
This was contained in the government’s newsletter called ”Government at Work” sent to its subscribers yesterday, February 13.
In the newsletter, the government gave 11 reasons why it believed the Nigerian economy is on its way out of recession.
