The speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara has vowed not to allow President Muhammadu Buhari to be humiliated over the 2017 budget.
Dogara said the House of Representatives will ensure that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is not humiliated in the ongoing budget deliberation.

Speaking while addressing a round-table on the N7.29 trillion budget proposal on Monday, February 20, Dogara said most of the lawmakers are on the same political party – All Progressives Congress – with the president and cannot allow him to be put to shame.
The round table was organized by APC governors in Abuja.

He said that lawmakers across political lines believe that constituency matters are very crucial to the activities.
“It is however, important to stress that on budget matters members of the National Assembly tend to be very sensitive to their constituency representational functions, irrespective of party,” Dogara said.
He also updated the APC governors on the progress made by the National Assembly in the ongoing debates over the 2017 budget.
The speaker promised better transparency and accountability in its passage and implementation.
