Seized allocation: PDP raises alarm of alleged plot by APC to truncate Ekiti 2018 election

PDP accuses the APC-led federal government of playing politics with the welfare of the governed.

The Ekiti state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that the federal government’s seizure of the January allocation to Ekiti state was a plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) at causing trouble before the 2018 governorship election in the state.

The PDP made the allegation on Thursday, February 16, in a statement by the state publicity secretary of party, Mr Jackson Adebayo, in Ado-Ekiti, Daily Post reports.

The party said the statement by the Ekiti state APC where the party explained the reasons behind the action of the federal government at the time when the minister of finance was assuring the state that the matter would be looked into, was evidence of culpability on the part of the APC in the matter.

PDP accused the APC-led federal government of playing politics with the welfare of the governed.

It said the APC led federal government was turning Nigeria into a despotic state where blind vengeance is operated by the government.

The party said it had been vindicated by the

various alarms that it had raised in the past that the leadership of the APC had perfected plans to wreak havoc in the state through various dastardly actions that would undermine the government of the state as part of its quest to wrestle power in 2018 from the PDP.

PDP alleged that the meetings of APC leaders at the house of the special adviser on political affairs to the president, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, was aimed at harming the interest of Ekiti state.

The party condemned what it termed as “wickedness masterminded by the APC to stifle life out of the people of the state because it is a known fact that whatever that affects the civil servants in the state would have bandwagon effects on the entire people being a civil service state”.

Meanwhile, the federal government has disclosed that the January allocation from the budget support facility (BSF) to Ekiti state was suspended because the state failed to comply with the basic requirements for participating in the facility.

The ministry said the BSF is a conditional loan programme to state governments introduced to enhance fiscal prudence, transparency, efficiency in public expenditure and payment of salaries, Premium Times reports.

It said Ekiti state defaulted in meeting the conditions specified and agreed upon by the 35 State governments that are participating in the programme.
