1. The cabal around Buhari will destroy Nigeria – Junaid Mohammed
A Second Republic lawmaker Junaid Mohammed had raised alarm over some cabal allegedly surrounding President Muhammadu Buhari.
Mohammed said the cabal around the president is intent on destroying Nigeria as a country.
He said if Nigerians are not careful the incident will continue until the country is destroyed.
2. Bribe of gift? – Senator Ben Bruce throws powerful jab at President Buhari
Bayelsa East Senatorial District, Senator Ben Murray Bruce, has thrown a jab at President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC-led government, over the report that the president gave Justice Adeniyi Ademola N500,000 while his certificate controversy was pending before Ademola.
3. While Buhari is away, lawmaker moves for Governor Shettima to become President
Danlami Kubo, the Deputy Speaker of Borno House of Assembly, said on Tuesday, February 21, that his state governor, Kashim Shettima, should be the next man to rule Nigeria at the end of President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure.
The lawmaker said moves were being made to see that the candidacy of Mr. Shettima is accepted when the time comes for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to get President Buhari’s successor.
4. Fayose applauds Buhari over Chief justice confirmation
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti has applauded President Muhammadu Buhari over the issue of the appointment of Justice Walter Onnoghen as the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
The Senate had confirmed the receipt of the letter from acting president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo asking that the acting chief justice be screened and confirmed after public outcry from Nigerians.
In a statement released on Wednesday, February 22 by his media aide, Fayose said Osinbajo could not have taken the decision himself and applauded President Buhari for heeding to the outcry of Nigerians.
5. EFCC recovers 17 vehicles from ex-Comptroller General of Customs
The EFCC has recovered seventeen exotic vehicles in a warehouse owned by the former Comptroller General of Customs, Abdullahi Dikko Inde.
The recovery was sequel to an intelligence the commission received that stolen money and properties suspected to proceeds of crime were being stored in the warehouse.
Upon receipt of the intelligence, a team of operatives from the Kano Zonal Office were deployed to carry out the investigation.
6. Slight dust haze atmosphere to prevail on Thursday – NiMet
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted dust haze conditions over the central states of the country on Thursday with horizontal visibility of two to five kilometres
NiMet gave the prediction in its Weather Outlook by the Central Forecast Office on Wednesday in Abuja.
It also predicted that the region would have day and night temperature of 30 to 38 and 15 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.
7. Ministers weep as Osinbajo chairs valedictory session for out-going colleague
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a cross section of the cabinet ministers could not control their emotion as they wept openly at the event.
In his remarks, Osinbajo, who described the out-going minister as a role model to millions of youths across the country, lauded her contributions to the government and the society at large.
8. Breaking: President Buhari calls Nigeria again, applauds citizens for prayers
President Muhammadu Buhari has spoken with Nigerians appreciating all the prayers and goodwill messages that have been extended to him.
The president who is on an extended vacation in the UK spoke with Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Wednesday, February 22 on phone where he thanked Nigerians for all the prayers.
Vanguard reports that the president spoke for about three minutes in vernacular with Governor Ganduje, while a prayer session was going on at the Government House in Kano.
