The Nigerian police, Lagos command has arrested a man allegedly involved in printing of fake ballot papers.

The suspect, Remi Adeniyi, owner of Rems Multimedia, was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday, Februaury 15, and is being held at the Igando police station, Lagos. Adeniyi was arrested after a police informer informed the police of his actions.

According to Tribune, police spokesperson, Dolapo Badmus confirmed the arrest. Badmos said: “The Lagos State Police Command in the early hours of Wednesday, arrested a man who specialises in printing fake.

“The command received an intelligence report that a printer identified as Remi Adebiyi with his office located at governor’s road, College bus stop Ikotun has been secretly printing voters’ cards.

“Based on the information, the command’s operatives mobilised to the business premises in the early hours

of today and discovered some specimens.”

The suspect has since admitted he was guilty of the crime and that he was contracted by some people to print the fake voters’ cards.

Investigation is still going on to fish out those who contracted him to print the fake ballot papers and others who might be involved in the illegal act.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that it has already begun preparation for the 2019 general elections

Prof. Mahmood Yakubu who is the chairman of INEC made this revelation when he addressed the House of Representatives Committee on Electoral Matters in Abuja on Monday, February 13 to defend the commission’s 2017 budget.
