Christians in Katsina, the home-state of President Muhammadu Buhari, under the aegis of the Chirstian Association of Nigeria (CAN) have embarked on fasting and prayers for the Nigerian leader.

Buhari is in the United Kingdom where he is said to be undergoing some medical examinations while on vacation.
However, his absence has pitched government officials against some Nigerians who wonder why his state of health is being shielded from the public.

The CAN in the Katsina confirmed on Monday, February 20, 2017 that its members have commenced a seven-day fasting and prayer for the quick recovery of the president.
The association said in all, about 65,000 of its members in the state embarked on the exercise.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the CAN chairman in the state, Reverend Nelson Onyeka Chukwu, as revealing this to journalists in the state on Monday, February 20, 2017.

He explained that the prayers would be concluded next week at the St John’s Anglican Church, Katsina adding that the decision was made in recognition of the good works the president started.

He said: “We are praying for our President’s quick recovery because of the good works he had begun for the country.”
The report also noted that Muslims faithful in the state and Daura Emirate Council had also offered prayers for the president’s quick recovery.
