Focus on the economy, not Buhari's health – APC to Nigerians

The chairman of the United Kingdom chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Phillip Idaewor has advised Nigerians to focus their attention on the economic recovery efforts of the present government, instead of engaging in speculation and evil wishes about President Muhammadu Buhari’s health.

Idaewor who made the comment during an interview with Daily Trust in London, said the most pressing challenge facing Nigerians is how to get the economy working for the common good of the people.

He berated those circulating false information on the president’s health, describing such as “unethical, grossly disrespectful and inhumane.”

According to him, those who destroyed Nigeria’s economic and moral core through pandemic corruption and made the Naira a currency of low worth are the country’s common enemies and are to be “pilloried not our president.”

He further said President Buhari should be commended for his exemplary respect for the constitution by voluntarily transferring power to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

He stressed that the action “though constitutionally mandatory, was unknown in Nigeria’s political leadership experience.”

Meanwhile, a report by Vanguard has detailed how nearly all the members of the National Working Committee of the APC have deserted the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

According to the report, the party executives have stayed away from the secretariat due to the constant absence of power supply in the building.

Three months ago, ZENITHBLOG.com reported that the feud between the National leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the party chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun is affecting the finances of the party.

A senior chieftain of the party, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, confided in ZENITHBLOG.com that all is not well within the party because of Tinubu’s withdrawal of financial support to the party headquarters.
