The eight Assembly will be resuming its plenary sessions tomorrow after a four-week recess.
Various issues of national interest ZENITHBLOG.com gathered will be dominating the deliberations by the Senate tomorrow.

The issues include:
1. President Muhammadu Buhari’s vacation letter
Before the lawmakers went on recess, the president sent a letter seeking for 10 days vacation.
But on the expiration of the vacation, the President Buhari also sought the Senate approval to extend his vacation due to medical reasons.

On resumption on Tuesday, February 21, the Senate will discuss the letter sent by the president.
2. Buhari’s letter nomination Justice Walter Onnoghen as the chief justice of Nigeria
During his vacation, President Buhari authorized the acting president Yemi Osinbajo to forward Justice Walter Onnoghen’s name to the Senate for confirmation as the chief justice of Nigeria.
The nomination of Onnoghen came after series of backlash from different quarters against the presidency.
The presidency was accused on delaying the appointment of Justice Onnoghen as the chief justice.
This backlash came close to the expiration of the approved three months for a chief justice in an acting capacity.
However, the National Judicial Council last week extended the tenure of the acting chief justice until his confirmation as the substantive CJN.
3. The 2017 Appropriation Bill and other bills
The chairman of the Senate Committee on media and publicity Aliyu Abdullahi in a statement on Sunday, February 19, said issues arising from the 2017 budget will be addressed.

He also said various committees will be expected to submit report on the budget by tomorrow.
Abdullahi said: “From tomorrow, various committees are expected to start submitting reports to the Committee on Appropriations based on schedule earlier provided as a result of the conclusion of budget defence by MDAs.”
Other bills were also be attended to by the lawmakers.
