Editor’s note: Opinions have divided since last Friday 17th Appeal judgement that upheld former governor of Borno state, Ali Modu Sheriff as the authentic national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). While Ali Modu Sheriff’s faction saw the judgement as victory for democracy, the Markafi led faction maintained that the judgement was bought.
In his article, Eldaar Mez David, the ZENITHBLOG.com contributor, analyses the politics that went behind the scene as both factions fought the legal battle over the supremacy of the party.

Justice is now for sale in Nigeria though very expensive that only those of the upper class can afford it. An individual can even be very wealthy that he can afford what his group, organization, community or party cannot afford.

I think that must have been the base of the edge that former governor of Borno state, Ali Amodu Sheriff had that made him beat the rest members of his party PDP thereby declared the legitimate chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party by the Court of Appeal on Friday 15th February.

But come to think of it, did he really deserve such judgement? Does that judgement really represent justice and fairness? Will that judgement set sound judicial precedence on course in the Nigeria judicial system? The answers to the questions above lie buried in the sand of time.
However, I must quickly observe that if that judgement is all that a superior court of that height can produce in a matter of that nature, then I think there is apparently intentional and intended abortion of justice.
When Amodu Sheriff bragged on national TV that he was confident that the Court of Appeal would give him victory, my response to him was “You’re only but a suspended failure”. Undoubtedly in my imagination, I never imagined that the judgement could in any way favour him. But to my chagrin, the judgement was callously delivered in his favour by our careless and
How could that be? A man that betrayed his party, a man that used his selfishness to negate the tenets and values of his party, a man that is superfluously pugnacious and greedy and such a man is not to be trusted with the protection of collective interest cos he would always project his egocentric disposition.
At this point however, our judicial system has failed in sustaining its core value which is justice. Justice is all that matters and that is supposedly precluded and exclusive prerogative of the judiciary.
However many times, they give something different. It is my opinion that that judgement is repugnant to natural justice, equity and good conscience and so should be set aside by the Supreme Court.
