There are eight international airports in Nigeria; these airports are Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Akuna Ibiam International Airport, Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Port Harcourt International Airport, Sadiq Abubakar III International Airport, Margaret Ekpo International Airport, Asaba International Airport.
There are 18 domestic airports. A few years ago, FAAN designated 13 airports to be perishable cargo airports. That was made according to the idea of creating another large revenue sector of the country. FAAN chose next cities to host perishable cargo terminals: Uyo, Port Harcourt, Owerri, Minna, Makurdi, Lagos, Kano, Jos, Jalingo, Ilorin, Calabar, Akure, and Abuja. It`s a new airport serving in the capital of Bauchi state. It`s named after Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. He was a prime minister of Nigeria from 1957 to 1966.
