– Among other things, Banire is accused of anti-party politics
Members of the disciplinary panel set up to try alleged anti-party activities against Muiz Banire, the national adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC) left the venue angry after they were shunned by the accused.
The disciplinary committee in Ward C of the Mushin local government area in of Lagos met to look into the allegations which include misappropriation of campaign materials and logistics levelled against Banire.
ZENITHBLOG.com understands that the committee had summoned Banire to appear before its sitting on Monday, August 14 at the Bishop Aggey Memorial School, Ilasamaja, Mushin.
He was to defend the allegations contained in a petition written against him by two members of the party in the area, Mr Olukayode Tunde Tolu and Mr Ayodeji Adebayo.
The chairman of the committee, Mr Bolaji Abass, who introduced the members as Mr Laide Badru (secretary), Mr Wunmi Bewaji (general counsel) and Mrs Muinat Mustapha, said they would carry out their task without sentiments.
He added that the report would be submitted to the ward executive of the party for onward delivery to the local government and then state executive of APC.
While the petitioners were at the proceedings, Banire was conspicuously absent. The panel said it got no message from the accused as to why he could not make it.

Also, Badru displayed copies of advertorials in two national dailies and evidence of receipt of courier letter inviting Banire for the sitting.
The petitioners alleged before the panel that Banire had committed grievous attrocities against the party and had carried out series of acts of indiscipline, which must not go unpunished.
“Party discipline and party loyalty made APC what it is today. Whatever the decision of the party is, it is binding on all members and if a member goes against the party, there must be sanction,” one of them said.
They asked that Banire be suspended from the party and debarred from holding any party office as well as contesting office on the platform of the party for a period of ten years.
They claimed that Banire had been continuously absent from ward meetings for more than two years contrary to Article 9 (2) (iii) of its constitution.
They also claimed that he had been engaging in unrestrained media campaigns against the party, its organs, leaders and functionaries, a development deliberately calculated to embarrass the party and bring it into disrepute contrary to Article 9 (2) (I) of the constitution.

“The member (Banire) has openly been encouraging and inciting court actions against the party, its organs and functionaries when internal dispute resolution mechanisms have not been explored or exhausted contrary to Article 21 (A) (ii) of the constitution.
“The member (Banire) has been conducting himself in such a way and manner as to constitute a distraction to the good policies and programmes of the government of President Muhammadu contrary to Article 21 (A) (ii) of the constitution,” a part of the petition read.
According to them, Banire has intentionally neglected his duties as the party’s legal adviser by failing to defend the party’s interest in a law suit.
ZENITHBLOG.com had reported that the Deputy speaker of Lagos state House of Assembly, Wasiu Eshilokun-Sanni, recently dragged Muiz Banire before an Ikeja Division of the Lagos High Court over forgery of his purported withdrawal letter from the 2015 election into Lagos Island Constituency 1 of the House.
Eshilokun-Sanni, who filed the suit alongside two APC chieftains Babatunde Kehinde and Kazeem Olatunji, is asking the court to declare Banire as unfit to keep occupying the office of the party’s national legal adviser owing to the forgery of the purported letter of withdrawal, series of anti-party activities and breach of several provisions of the APC constitution.
