After being rendered homeless by Boko Haram insurgency, the suffering of the victims has continued unabated.
We hear of millions being donated to help Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) but photographs of their poor living condition and malnourished children continue to surface.
Despite the billions of naira the Nigerian government budgets for them, there are reports of starvation in the camps.

A Facebook user, Yusuf Gulumbo Muhammed, shared photos of an IDP camp in Ngala local government area of Borno state.

The photos show the IDPs living in an unconducive environment.
According to him, Ngala international idps camp has the population of 79,837 individuals and 14,483 house holds.

He wrote: “The Borno State Government through the present caretaker committee chairmans is injecting lot sum of 25m on monthly basis apart normal salary to the State LGAs since inception.
“My brothers and sisters, and I quote : even 2m can build a drainage to safe these thousands of idps from out break, if not at all expensive use 500,000 to build a trench and connect it to the existing gutter.”

Muhammed noted that if nothing was done to fix the flooding in the IDP
He said there were 1600 abandoned emergency latrines which is 6 metres deep away from the earth surface and the IDPs still maintain open defecation.

There have been reports of some officials diverting millions and other relief items meant for the IDPs for their selfish gain.
There were allegations that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, misappropriated funds meant for Internally Displaced Persons in the north-east.
The Senate called for his resignation and prosecution following the presentation of interim report of the Adhoc Committee on Mounting Humanitarian Crisis in the north-east, by the chairman of the committee, Senator Shehu Sani.
