PDP in shock as unknown gunmen open fire on delegation to national convention (photos)

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has decried an attack on some of its members who were on their way to Abuja for its national convention this weekend.

The opposition party says it is shocked at the incident and has called for an investigation into the matter.

“We also received with shock, the attack by gunmen on some PDP delegates from Lagos state, who were on their way to attend the Convention.

“This is sad and unfortunate. We call on the security agencies to investigate the matter and bring perpetrators to book.

“We sympathize with the victims of this barbaric attack and call on our members in Lagos and other states to remain resolute and undeterred.”

Meanwhile, ZENITHBLOG.com reported earlier that Senator Ahmed Makarfi, the chairman of National Caretaker Committee of the PDP said there were five failed attempts to stop today’s non-elective national convention of the party.

Makarfi disclosed this at the opening ceremony of the 75th PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party held at the party’s national Secretariat on Friday, August 11 in Abuja.

He said that the purpose of the meeting was to enable the NEC members to review all the happening across the country.
