On Friday, August 11, about eight buses drove to the road by the Unity Fountain in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.
These buses had in them many Nigerians – mostly young people who all charged towards the famous Unity Fountain chanting Sai Buhari! Sai Buhari!!
Just immediately the individuals in their scores also joined a group protesting against corruption in Nigeria.

The group’s protest organized by the Centre for Civil Society and Justice (CCSJ) had earlier taken over the Unity Fountain yesterday in a counter protest against another group led by musician and television presenter Charles ‘Charly Boy’ Oputa.

Immediately, the youngsters arrived in their buses, they joined and were also welcomed by members of the pro-Buhari group already singing at the Unity Fountain.

They sang and charged towards the Charly Boy-led group chanting loudly and enthusiastically: Sai Buhari! Sai Buhari!!

Fortunately, the police officers present quickened to action, they formed a barricade between the pro-Buhari group and the anti-Buhari protesters standing at the East-wing of the Unity Fountain.

At this time, the anti-Buhari group numbering about 10, with their leaders, Charly Boy and Deji Adeyanju the director of the Concerned Nigerians group drove out of the Unity Fountain in a convoy of three vehicles under intense booing by the pro-Buhari group.

However, in a statement the Presidency has commended the CCSJ-led protesters for their good conduct.

The Presidency in a statement made available to journalists on Friday, August 11, the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity Garba Shehu said any attempt by individuals or groups to truncate the war against corruption will not succeed.

Shehu who reportedly received the pro-Buhari protesters at the Presidential Villa said: “It might be taken for granted that the beneficiaries of the old order are fighting back.”

He said: “We have been warned that corruption will fight back. In a country where just one woman, for having the opportunity to serve as minister has N47.2bn and $487.5m of public resources in cash and property traced to her by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, you don’t expect the beneficiaries of that order to allow the Buhari administration some peace.”
Further describing the #ResumOrResign Protest led by Charly Boy as “an illegal assembly stealthily organised to deliver a blow to the war against corruption,” Shehu said demands made by the anti-Buhari group is unlawful.

ZENITHBLOG.com earlier reported that the two protesting groups clashed during their protest in Abuja.
The pro-Buhari group while protesting said it is obvious that corruption is fighting back through various ways as earlier announced by the president.
The group also said it’s protest will last for 30 days while the anti-Buhari group said it will continue with its protest until either President Buhari resumes work or resigns as the president of Nigeria.
