Kaduna state governor, Malam Nasir El’Rufai has said that the attacks on the Kaduna state chapter of the NUJ office by thugs on July 30 was because of the presence of some federal lawmakers from the state.
The governor who made his stance known through his special adviser (political), Honourable Uba Sani, said some lawmakers have not been performing since they were sworn into office as legislators.
He said the attack was justified as the thugs were irked seeing them gathered to address political issues.

Uba who spoke in an interview on the local Nagarta Radio in Kaduna on Friday, August 4 said: “The attack was appropriate, it’s part of politics.”
On why they attacked journalists, he said: “because journalists were their hosts.”

The lawmakers alleged that governor El’Rufai undemocratically compiled names of party officers of the state APC and single handedly submitted the list to the National headquarters.

Meanwhile, a former gubernatorial candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the 2011 elections in Abia state, Prince Paul Ikonne, has accused a former governor of the state, Orji Uzor Kalu, of engaging in anti-party activities.
Ikonne who addressed a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, August 3, stated that the activities of Kalu are affecting the APC’s electoral chances in the state.
