John Omoniyi Abiri

This man was honored to be called the Chief Historian of Ife as well as the Outstanding ruler and a king of Abiri town. James Meredith

You are probably familiar with the name of this outstanding figure. He was quite a character! First of all, this man was involved in many different events which promoted the exercise of the Civil Rights Campaign the American politicians were talking about. He pushed them not only to speak about the application of equal civil right for white as well as people of color but also do what they promise.

Thus, after John Kennedy gave a speech about the Rights equality, Meredith decided to enter the University of Mississippi. It was a turning point in the history of this school, as he was the first man to become its student. However, he did not stop just there and also supported other fellow students in doing so, that is why in several years two other students entered this University under the federal protection. However, only one of them graduate, as the next one after Meredith was left without protection, and being scared he carried a gun with him for which he was made to leave the school.

Later Meredith was also famous for serving as a catalyst for massive Marches Against Fear in 1966. He was supposed to walk all the distance alone, but on his way, he was severely wounded by an aggressive white man. When people learned about this situation, they joined him on his way. It was the most spectacular march in the state.

Thanks to everything this man did, he was honored to receive a medal from the Harvard University for all the great impact on Education he made.

There is probably no need to tell you who this excellent man was. Born in 1934, this man turned out to be a real find for the Nigerian and African Literature as well as to the Theatric Arts in general.

This man was the first man from Africa to hold a Nobel Prize for all the impact he had on literature.

He was only among the notable alumni of the University of Ibadan but also among the excellent students at the school in the United Kingdom. He was significantly involved in the Royal Court Theater work in the capital of Great Britain as well as in the development of the Theater in Nigeria. However, in 1995 he was sentenced to capital punishment after false accusations of being the initiator murder of local authorities. His death caused many political controversies not only in Nigeria but elsewhere. This bizarre situation became known at the Commonwealth of Nations, and they excluded Nigeria for several years for such things.

Thus, he is another famous writer who got his start at the University of Ibadan.

Chinua Achebe

This man was famous as a brilliant novelist who first got interested in the development of Igbo culture. He described how the Christianity impacted the people as well as what peculiarities African cultures have.

He was about to obtain a Degree in Medicine when he realized his love to Literature, so he changed his major at the University of Ibadan and started writing his first novels as a student.

Iya Abubakar

Kole Omotosho

Kole is a writer originally coming from Nigeria. He graduated from the Universtiy of Ibadan and then went for a degree at a British University.

Raised in the atmosphere of nationalism, he turned to be extremely optimistic about Nigeria’s future. He always mentioned that this country had an enormous potential.

This lady is a child of the former President of Nigeria. During her political career, he managed to hold a position of the Ogun State Commissioner for Health, a Nigerian Senator as well as the Chairman of the Health Committee of Health.
