Newly-inaugurated governor of Ondo state Rotimi Akeredolu has accused a certain serving senator in the Southwest state of working against his emergence and declared that there was no place for disloyal party members in his government.

Akeredolu says he would not allow disloyal people like the serving senator that worked against him in the elections in his government.

The governor made this allegation at the dinner organised for him in Akure, the Ondo state capital, after his inauguration on Friday, February 24.

The Punch reports that Akeredolu, who was sworn-in as Ondo’s new with his deputy Agboola Ajayi on Friday, alleged that some chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state worked for another party during the last governorship election.

Though Akeredolu did not mention the name of the alleged senator he however demanded that the concerned senator should reapply to the party if he still wished to be an active member of the APC in the state.

He said: “A senator that won his seat on the platform of the APC chose to openly work for the Alliance for Democracy during the last governorship election. He later paid for a congratulatory advert for me in the newspaper; it looks strange to me. This is someone that didn’t even call to congratulate me.

“Tell the senator he is not a member of the APC. Everyone involved in anti-party activities can’t come back through the back door, they would have to go back to their various wards to reapply for APC membership cards and apologise openly. They should also do the needful.”

Meanwhile, reports say at least four people died during a bloody clash that occurred between two rival court groups and which allegedly started at the All Progressives Congress secretariat in Ondo town just as Oluwarotimi Akeredolu took the oath of office as governor of Ondo state.

The clash was said to have followed the decision of some former APC members, who left for the Alliance of Democracy (AD) to return to the now ruling party in the state.
