ZENITHBLOG.com recalled that pictures recently emerged of some faceless Nigerians who participated in what appeared to be a sponsored protest against Amnesty International (AI) receiving payment for the protest.

Amnesty International has in recent times become the victim of sponsored protests by fictitious groups against their reports that have indicted the authorities of human right violations

ZENITHBLOG.com also recalled that the protesters have been besieging the office of the group in Abuja since Monday, March 20 and have continued till Wednesday, March 22.

But the international human rights group whose work has gained international recognition continues to enjoy support as an alternative voice in the midst of gross violations by the authorities

ZENITHBLOG.com earlier reported that a coalition of CSOs and some concerned Nigerians have concluded arrangements to lead a solidarity visit to Amnesty International Nigeria in support of their activities within the country.

Recently, many civil society organisations continue to stand with the group for their work in bring violations to global attention

Part of the statement by the group’s conveners Jude Ndukwe and Ariyo-Dare Atoye read:

“This has become necessary following the protests against AI last week and the wicked siege laid against its office for days as sponsored by fifth columnists. This has earned our nation bad reputation globally,” Ndukwe said.
