Delta government speaks on tragic death of 4 school principals

The Delta state government has reacted to the death of four school principals who died in a tragic motor accident on the way to Kwale, Ndokwa West local government area for a meeting with the state commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Chiedu Ebie.

In a statement signed by the commissioner, he said three school principals and one vice principal died in the road traffic accident while on their way to the meeting.

He said the state government received the news, adding that the untimely death of the principals at the prime of their service was shocking and had a created a huge vacuum that would be difficult to fill.

Following the incident, he said the state government has declared Monday as mourning day in all the public schools in the state, noting that the affected schools will remain closed on Monday with the exception of students writing the West African School Certificate Examinations.

The statement added that normal classes and school will resume on Tuesday 28th March ahead of the 2nd term examinations which will commence on Wednesday 29th March, 2017.
