At a time when Nigeria is working towards diversification of its economy away from the oil sector, the president of Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) Igwe Achese bagged a prestigious award in Port Harcourt.
Achese alongside some moguls in the industry were honoured in Port Harcourt at the fourth edition of the Garden City Advancement Award.

Endorsed by the Rivers state ministry of culture and tourism, the award ceremony was created to identify, celebrate and showcase excellence in the garden City of Port Harcourt.
Announcing the fourth edition of GACAA, the organizers through its principal partner, Robinson Koyoyo, said the Garden City Award is the most coveted awards.

Koyoyo said: “GACAA is one of the most coveted Awards, as it not only honors distinguished recipients across various sectors but also strengthens excellence, encourages peace and has continue to blaze the trail since its inception in the state.”
Some other recipients of the award include: Sam Adjogbe, Jack Rich-Tein (Jnr) of Belema Oil, Pelfaco Limited, Meridian Hospital and Dova Engineering.

The theme of this year’s edition is: “Diversifying Rivers state Economy Beyond Oil: Practical Solutions and Prospects”.
ZENITHBLOG.com earlier reported that the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) won the 2017 outstanding government agency award.
The award was used a vehicle to celebrate organisations, institutions and individuals at the forefront of ICT adoption and usage in Nigeria.
