Baba-Saleh expressed joy over the development and pledged that APC in the state would transform the fortunes of the defected members.

He said: “We are happy to receive you people into our great party. We are also happy that people are beginning to know that the APC in the state is concerned about the development of the state under the leadership of Governor Umaru Al-Makura.”

Baba-Saleh also assured the new members that the Al-Makura administration and the APC leadership in the state would ensure a level playing ground for all members and prioritize the welfare of all citizens of the state.

This comes even as he urged the defectors to see themselves as equal to old members of the party and free to contest any political position of their choice if they choose to.

He said: “Governor Al-Makura who is a member of our great party is a man of his word. Anything he says, he always fulfills his promises. Our party does not engage in religious or tribal segregation. Our party is open to all citizens regardless of religion or tribal differences.”

Speaking on behalf of the new members, Mr Musa Aloko, former chairman of Obi local government area, said that they were encouraged by the achievements of the APC- led administration in Nasarawa state.

The defection of PDP members in Nasarawa comes just weeks after a massive wave of defection hit the party in Enugu state.

It was gathered that many of the members of the party also defected to the rival party APC.
