MY STORY OF ADDICTION EPISODE 46

mystory4

I woke up around 8am. I knew Chidinma would come around in an hour time. I dashed to the bathroom for my early morning drills.
I connected a call to Sarah. She picked. She reminded me of tomorrow. She pleaded that I should keep to my promise. I ended the call when I heard the bell sound; I guessed it has to be Chidinma.
I rushed to the gate and I guessed right. It was Chidinma quite alright but just dressed more formal that makes her more mature. I opened the gate and we chitchat while walking into the house.
Chidinma: Good Morning Femi
Me: Good Morning…. welcome.
Chidinma: so have you made up your mind about me taking you.
Me: (confused) What do you mean?
Chidinma: your mum explained everything to me… she told me why you dint want me to take you.
Me: (mummy sef) hmnnnnn… so what was your reaction after she told you?
Chidinma: does it really matters? Your decision is final.

I already know that I’m stuck with her but with our conversation now; she doesn’t know that. I just have to swing the situation to my favour.

Me: Okay… I’m sorry. I have talked to one of my friends home tutor and he has already accepted to start tomorrow.
Chidinma: (looks sad) okay then… I think I should get going. your mum told me to expect something like that from you.
Me: it’s okay then

She stood up to leave. Then she suddenly let me into her innermost secrets.

Chidinma: (voice low) I’m sorry to be bothering you but I just have to plead with you on this job.
Me: what do you have me do now? I had already told my new tutor to resume tomorrow.
Chidinma: (voice still low) you can still tell him about me. He has other students. I just need this job. We are on break now. I just have to raise some money before going back. (paused then continues) my parents only managed to pay my school fees. I can’t tell them that I still have some departmental levy that’s not included in the school fees. I still need to… (now tears rolling down her eyes) .

She kept talking with the tears still rolling down. I felt for her that I just had to stop the play acting.
Me: it’s okay… You can have the Job.
Chidinma: thank you… thank you…
Me: but only on one condition….
Chidinma: anything…
Me: I won’t be available for all the lesson days and you will not dare tell my mum.
Chidinma: (surprised) why won’t you be available?
Me: not always… maybe once in a week, at most twice.
Chidinma: it’s okay then… thank you for the job.

We dint even talk about anything about Chemistry. Maybe she’s afraid that it might upset me.
Wetin concern me? I don’t want the tutorial sef… Na my mummy wan just her waste money.
We continued talking and laughing at the same time. My phone rang and I hissed when I saw the caller to be Bidemi. She saw my odd reaction.

Chidinma: who was that?
Me: it’s nobody….
Chidinma: I know she would be nobody to you now but when you were busy chasing her all over; she was everybody then. Guys; Una too wicked.
Me: (laughing) no ooooo.. I’m not like that oooo. She’s my best friend and she got into a misunderstanding with her elder sister. I demanded she apologise but she refused. Told her not to call me till she has.
Chidinma: (not convinced)Okay oooo…. how would you know if she had apologised when you dint pick her call?
Me: (Smiling) leave that girl jare… if she had… her elder sister would have called me.

It’s now 11am and I’m now hungry. I asked her if she had eaten and her reply was yes. I still insisted we go to a cafeteria around to eat.

We walked very close to each other as we walked to the cafeteria. We talked and laughed loudly when I heard my name. It was Emeka. He was on the other side of the road. He crossed over to meet us.

Emeka: (shakes hand with me) Good morning sister
Chidinma: Good Morning
Emeka: (now faces me) so because you are with your beautiful girlfriend now… you no wan greet your bros
Me: (Smiling while staring into Chidinma’s eyes) no vex, bros Emeka… “Kedu sir”

They both laughed because of the tone I used to pronounce “Kedu sir”.

Chidinma: don’t spoil our language Mr Femi…
Emeka: don’t mind him.
Me: I have heard you… Emeka meet Chidinma… Chidinma:Emeka

I introduced Chidinma to Emeka as my friend. He complimented her beauty and he says goodbye and zooms off to the place only god knows.
We got to the cafeteria. I ordered for a plate of rice with extra fish. I made her order when she insisted on not eating.
We kept quiet as we eats our food. Then she broke the silence.

Chidinma: thanks for the food. The food is deliciously perfect.
Me: Yes… it’s one of the best cafeteria that we have around here.
Chidinma: it’s good… I wish we had something like this in our area.
Me: it’s okay…

We both finished eating at the same time. We were heading back home when she asked me a funny question.

Chidinma: why dint you introduce me as your home teacher to Emeka?
Me: (Smiling) I don’t want to embarrass you. Emeka is unpredictable. He would definitely insinuate it.
Chidinma: Okay…. maybe that’s why you don’t want me to teach you. I’m too small to be introduced as one.
Me: I’m sorry if it makes you feel bad.
Chidinma: I was only joking ooo.. you can introduce me as anyone that makes you feel comfortable and me not embarrassed. I hate embarrassment. We both laughed.

We continued chatting and laughing when I saw Kikelomo&Bidemi standing in front of our gate. I took a deep breath as we approach them.

I just hope that Bidemi would let me do the introduction before she do the expected this time around.

To Be Continued…
