– Ijaw youths across the nation will converge on Thursday in Burutu for a two day national convention

Burutu community in Burutu local government area of Delta state will be live on Thursday, March 2, 2017 as all Ijaw youths across the nation will converge under the umbrella of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) to elect a new executive to pilot the affairs of the council.
In a statement by the outgoing IYC President, Udengs Eradiri, the election will hold between March 2 and 3 to elect executives who will manage the affairs of the council from March 2017 to March 2020.

The convention, according to the statement, would also consider all other issues that affect the IYC, Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta region.
The tenure of the current leadership would terminate on the 2nd of March, 2017, hence a new election is expected to be conducted at the convention to elect officers for all positions.
Eradiri, outgoing president, called on all Ijaw youths to attend the convention so as to usher in a new era in the IYC.

Expected at the convention are all former Presidents and past leaders, present zonal and chapter leaders, organization leaders and all members of the IYC.
The leadership and members of the National Union of Izon-Ibe Students (NUIS) are also expected to attend.
Eradiri called on all Ijaw youths who have issues to bring them to the convention at Burutu for consideration as the convention will offer the best opportunity to resolve all issues that affect the IYC and the Ijaw nation.
