President Muhammadu Buhari has taken a big step towards ending the constant conflict between the Presidency and the National Assembly.
Daily Trust reports that the president on Wednesday, March 29 set up a committee to end the conflict between the two arms of government.

The committee is said to be chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and also includes all ministers that were once federal lawmakers as well as senior special assistants to Buhari on National Assembly Matters, Ita Enang (Senate) and Samaila Kawu (House of Representatives).

According to the report, the committee met behind closed doors on Wednesday after the federal executive council meeting amid worries that the strained relationship between the Presidency and the Senate in particular is getting worse.
Information minister Lai Mohammed confirmed the new development in his briefing after the committee met.
He said: “The executive is also concerned that the relationship between the two arms of government is not as smooth as it is supposed to be.
“In any democracy, it is a continuous struggle for balancing between the executive and the legislature because each of them is a creature of the law.
“Just today (Wednesday) at the Federal Executive Council meeting, the issue was discussed and a committee is already working on ensuring that we resolve all these outstanding issues,” the minister said.

ZENITHBLOG.com recalls that the Senate had Tuesday, March 28 suspended confirmation of 27 Resident Electoral Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission in protest against the refusal of the president to remove acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Ibrahim Magu, who it had rejected twice.
