A group of armed members of the terrorist group ISIS stormed a church in Marawi, Philippines, and filmed themselves destroying all the religious images inside the temple.

The masked thugs are seen smashing statues of several saints and the Holy Mary, as well as stomping on a crucifix. They also tore away a poster with the face of Pope Francis.

If all that wouldn’t be enough, the jihadists set the church on fire after making the video.

The country’s president, Rodrigo Duterte, has vowed his government will not make any negotiations with the terrorists. His orders are to kill them, even if there are hostages in place.

It is believed there are about 200 captives, including children and a Catholic priest. Two thousand other residents are trapped in their houses as well. After a fortnight, the fear now is that all of them are running out of food and water.

class="align-left">The town of Marawi, in the southern Philippines, was overrun by ISIS about two weeks ago, even though at this moment government forces are trying to take control of the area again. Reports indicate at least 178 deaths among militants, policemen and soldiers. Around 20 civilians are included among these casualties.

The jihadists’ video was published by ISIS-controlled Amaq News Agency. They have also destroyed several other buildings around the town.

The Philippines government recently received a large contingent of weapons from the United States, including machine guns, pistols and grenade launchers. “This equipment will enhance [their] capabilities, and help protect [troops] actively engaged in counter-terrorism operations in the southern Philippines,” a statement from the U.S. embassy affirmed.
