The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for commencing the payment of N5000 each to the poor and most vulnerable Nigerians.

The payment is part the Conditional Cash Transfer programme of the present administration which was one of the campaign promises of the president during the 2015 electioneering.

Tinubu said the stipend for the poor was a sign that the Buhari-led APC government was committed to people’s welfare, This Day reports.

A statement issued by his media office read: “I commend President Buhari for keeping faith with his campaign promise. I commend him for empathising with the poor and the most vulnerable among us.

“The payment couldn’t have come at a better time

than now. The stipend is a sign of the government’s commitment to people’s welfare. We must all unite to beat poverty and bring prosperity to the land.”

The APC national leader urged Nigerians to support Buhari’s administration and things would soon turn around for the benefit of the people.

Before he became president, one of the campaign promises of Buhari and his party was to pay N5000 a month to the unemployed and the poorest youths in the country.

According to this initiative, one million extremely poor Nigerians would each receive 5000 naira monthly.

On Monday, the presidency announced that the federal government has begun the payment which was part of the Muhammadu Buhari administration’s determined efforts to touch the lives of Nigerians positively.
