Each day seems to birth new issues and worries for Nigeria and Nigerians with the activities of some unpatriotic citizens in the country.
Councilor and four others divert 300 bags of rice meant for IDPs.
The past few days have been traumatic for many Nigerians considering the bomb explosion that rocked University of Maiduguri and the accidental discharge of bombs in an IDP camp in Rann, Borno state. One would think the state will never be free of unrest with the tragic incidents occurring only days apart.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has uncovered an issue related to the IDPs. Umar Ibrahim, a supervisory councilor for Agriculture in Mafa local government area of Borno state has been arrested by the EFCC for the alleged diversion of 300 bags of rice meant for the Internally Displaced Persons.
This is quite unsettling considering the fact that these people have suffered enough anguish and depression in the camps they live after fleeing from their settlements. They have been troubled by the notorious Boko Haram sect and have no choice than to live in the camps provided by the government.
Ibrahim and four other councilors diverted the bags of rice donated by a non- governmental organisation identified as Danish Refugee Council.
The bags of rice were originally donated for the IDPs in the council. The intelligence report gotten by EFCC prompted the arrest of the people involved in the diversion.
See the names of those arrested with the councilor in connection with the diverted bags of rice:
1. Bulama Ali Zangebe
2. Modu Bulama
3. Halilu Abdullahi
4. Abacha Ali
From the information gotten from the suspects, Shettima Maina of the Mafa local government area ordered for the sale of the rice to Umar Salisu and Alhaji Lawan Ibrahim of Bolori stores. Each bag of rice was sold for N8,500. With EFCC raiding, Maina and the two other suspects are yet to be found.
