Delta commissioner praises Nigeria Army for taking over Sambisa forest

A commissioner in Delta state has praised the Nigerian Army for taking over Sambisa forest and sending the Boko Haram insurgents packing

– The information commissioner, Patrick Ukah, says it was commendable for the army to have achieved such feat

– He congratulated their bravery and urged them to forge on and exterminate others still in hiding

The Delta state commissioner for information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, has said that the gains recorded by the Nigerian army against the Boko Haram insurgents was a devastating blow to the insurgents, noting that it was a great success in the war against insurgency in Nigeria.

Speaking at the backdrop of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebrated on Sunday across the nation, the commissioner said Nigeria was making headway in its fight against insurgency, insisting that the few Boko Haram members still on the run would be captured.

He expressed faith in the Nigerian Army, adding that with the current strength with which the army is pursuing the insurgents in the North east, they will be rooted from the country and peace will return.

He noted that the rooting of the insurgents from their stronghold, the Sambisa forest, and the takeover of the hitherto dreaded forest by the Nigerian armed forces was commendable.

He congratulated the military for their bravery and urged them not to rest on their oars until the remnants of the terrorists are arrested, brought to book and permanent peace is restored to the Nigerian state.

Mr. Ukah called on Nigerians to continue to support and, most especially, pray for members of the armed forces who risk their lives to ensure the protection of law abiding citizens.

He prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the course of duty, in addition to good health and long life for serving and retired officers and men of the Nigerian armed forces.
